My iPod Touch has landed..

I thought the iPhone was amazing when I had the chance to try one out a couple of months ago but hey, my iPod Touch arrived today and it feels like an iPhone on steroids! Impossibly slim, incredibly sharp\bright\rich screen (apple appear to have fixed whatever the problem was with the first batch) and the fact it works in landscape mode for web browsing, iTunes video and Coverflow is just awesome.

Music videos and TV shows I have archived as native iPod video format (640 x 480) appear to play fine without the need for conversion although I’ve yet to try out the eye TV streaming format. Seems for £3.99 per month I can also get unlimited WiFi access to over 7,500 hotspots from the cloud.

Accordingly I probably won’t be joining Ed on that cold November morning outside the Regent Street store to pick up one of the first UK iPhones as this puppy should keep me suitably toy’d up until the 2nd-gen iPhones appear (3G, 16\32GB flah memory, A2DP bluetooth yada ya da ya) …

Update 12:00 today (Saturday)

A few hours further in and man, this mother rocks! google reader ‘just works‘, Gmail ‘just works’, YouTube ‘just works‘, eBay ‘just works‘ – even this crappy blog of mine displays properly. I’ve just tried the eye TV WiFI streaming and it’s just plain wicked. Yeh, I know I’m perceived as an apple fanboy but even the MS Windows press are predicting the Touch could clean up this Christmas, apple have certainly raised the bar significantly…
