I have to confess that I haven’t got around to trying out Sky in google earth yet and it looks like Microsoft are joining in with the Microsoft Worldwide telescope due to launch in the Spring.
If you can spare about 100MB of bandwidth and ten minutes of your time you could download Roy Gould’s HD video presentation (here) on the Microsoft’s Worldwide telescope. The project has been under development for 16 years and amongst other things allows visitors to create their own virtual tours of the Galaxies.
And.. on a related-note we lucky folks here in the sunny South also have a new Planetarium due to open around Easter 2008 in Winchester!
(When I was 19 and working in London’s West End I spent many an afternoon bunking off for in the London Planetarium.. oh happy days..)
