I’m feeling guilty about this post because I (like many) have been ticked off by the over-whelming publicity the iPhone has been receiving in news feeds and forums. So yesterday Michael Jones – Google Earth’s CTO let me try his iPhone out. .. both myself and Jonathan Field (who took the photo on the left of me drooling over it) were blown away!
Michael told us how he was trying to fix a domestic problem for his Mother and didn’t know how to undo a piece of plumbing, so so whisked out his iPhone.. looked the fitting up on the web and found how to undo the pipe.
The iPhone sits somewhere between a Blackberry, your iPod, your camera, and your PC at home… competing with none whilst bringing the benefits of each to the palm of your hand… oh, and then some…. and yes, as reported it’s impossibly slim!
No doubt Jonathan and myself might be first in Line when the Apple Store at Wesy Quay Southampton launches the iPhone later in the year, as I suspect will my old boss Ed Parsons who was also with us yesterday, but in his case at his local Kingston Apple store no wait, he says he’ll may go the whole honk and stand in line at Apple UK’s prestigious Regent Street Store. maybe us ‘hicks’ might join him?

Iphone looks to have a nice UI.
Like the cost saving feature of return to base to change batteries. (but its got a nice UI)
Nice to use it for Skype, googletalk, gizmo or even your own voip provider of choice….oops sorry it only a phone.
Bet it great for video conferencing..what it only got a camera?
You must be able then to run 3rd party apps…surely??
Its bound to play a huge range of audio formats then..what do you mean its only an Ipod in drag….
You can use a huge range of storage devices then?. You mean its sealed!!
Never mind you get the chance to pay for it over a number of years and not having to change your direct debit must be a bonus.
Again with choice of single browser again this makes life simplier.
Never mind when all else fails its got a nice UI
Cheers
